Temporary Traffic Counter Devices at Westmore-Meyers for Bicycle and Pedestrian Project

Temporary traffic counter devices have been temporarily installed as part of the Phase I engineering effort for the Westmore-Meyers Road Safety and Bicycle Pedestrian Improvement Project.

The devices were installed on Monday, April 3, 2017 and will be in place through the end of the week. The devices record vehicular movements that will be used to develop an intersection capacity analysis for all signalized intersections within the project limits, which include Westmore-Meyers Road from Roosevelt Road to St. Charles Road.

The Village’s consultant will conduct 4 hour a.m. and p.m. traffic counts at all signalized intersections and both regional trail crossings; the Great Western Trail and the Illinois Prairie Path. Counts will include vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists. The analysis will provide a comparison between existing lane configurations and the proposed roadway section that is being considered by the Village. The project was included as part of the Village-Wide Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan that was adopted by the Village Board of Trustees in 2016.  Additional information about the Bike Plan and the proposed project can be found on the Village’s website at  For additional information, please contact the Department of Public Works at (630)620-5740.
