Lombard Public Works has announced that Phase II of the Roosevelt Rd. Water Main Lining Project is scheduled to begin the week of March 27, 2017, pending unforeseen weather conditions.
The total project area will include both directions of Roosevelt Rd. between Fairfield Avenue and Wisconsin Avenue.
Eastbound Roosevelt Rd. from Westmore-Meyers Rd. to Wisconsin Ave. is anticipated to have right lane closures beginning March 27, 2017. The overall project schedule is expected to begin in late March and continue through October 2017. Throughout construction, motorists should expect lane closures with traffic delays and may seek to use alternative routes. All driveways to businesses and residences along Roosevelt Rd. will remain accessible. Drivers are reminded to follow all traffic laws, obey posted signs, and to exercise caution in the work zone.
Phase II will extend the work previously completed in Phase I of the project, which was successfully completed in late 2016 ahead of schedule and under budget. The purpose of the project is to reduce expensive and dangerous water main breaks and to extend the life of existing water mains for up to 50 years.
