The Lombard Police Department made 3 DUI arrests during the recent St. Patrick’s Day enforcement effort. Additional citations included: 10 seat belt violations, 11 cell phone violations and 27 speeding violations.
Lombard Police Officers reported the below statistics resulting from a 3 day crackdown on drunk or impaired driving:
“Although our grant was only in effect for three days, we were able to accomplish a lot and to help keep Lombard’s roads safer,” said Traffic Unit Officer Paula Rojas. “Unfortunately, we still find people that choose to get behind the wheel when impaired by alcohol, drugs or both. It takes everyone doing their part to make Zero Fatalities a Reality in Illinois.”
According to the latest data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 10,265 people died in impaired driving crashes on our nation’s roads in 2015. The Lombard Police Department joined forces with other state and local law enforcement and highway safety partners in the St. Patrick’s Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown.
The enforcement effort was funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation and is part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns.
