The Lombard Fire Department continues to be one of the busiest Fire Departments in the area and DuPage County. In order to meet the increasing needs of its residents, a third ambulance is now in daily operation.
In 2016, the Lombard Fire Department responded to 6,699 calls for service. The large majority of those calls were to provide emergency medical assistance to citizens and visitors. The number of emergency medical calls for assistance has shown a steady increase over the past several years, and is anticipated to increase moving forward.
The Lombard Fire Department now deploys three medic units twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The deployment of this third ambulance will better enable the department to meet the increasing number of calls for service, reduce our reliance on ambulances from neighboring communities, and decrease response times for emergency medical calls. The goal of the third ambulance is to provide better overall emergency medical coverage for the village. Additionally, all apparatus including Fire Trucks and Engines are equipped and staffed with advanced life support equipment and highly trained state licensed Paramedics.
The Lombard Fire Department is committed to providing its residents and visitors with the highest level of emergency services and values emergency medical assistance as a top priority. For more information please contact Assistant Fire Chief Jerry Howell at (630)620-5761.
