The Village of Lombard’s Public Works Department has announced upcoming roadwork and infrastructure construction projects for 2017.

The projects are focused on managing traffic, improving the reliability of the drinking water system, and addressing storm water concerns.

  • Phase II of the Roosevelt Road Water Main Lining Project includes the lining of existing water mains to extend their life by up to 50 years, to maintain clean drinking water for residents and businesses, and to decrease the quantity of expensive and dangerous water main breaks on Roosevelt Road. www.38water.org
  • The North Broadway Interim Pump Station and Force Main Project. This project is the first major step in separating the combined sewers within the Gatz Pond watershed. www.villageoflombard.org/northbroadway
  • The Gatz Pond Outfall Project will install a new storm sewer from Gatz Pond in Westmore Woods Park to the North Broadway Interim Pump Station. The project is also an important step to separate the combined sewers. An area of approximately 450 acres of storm water runoff will be diverted into the new storm sewer. www.villageoflombard.org/gatzpond
  • The new Rt. 53 Storm Water Pump Station, south of St. Charles Road, will be completed. This project will replace the aging station East Branch DuPage River and increase the pumping rate, thereby reducing the frequency of flooding in the northwest of the Village. www.villageoflombard.org/53pumpstation.
  • The Route 53 and Madison Street traffic signal will be installed to complete the improvements for this intersection, which now accommodates left turns that were previously disallowed. www.villageoflombard.org/53madison
  • A new informational electronic sign will be installed at the southeast corner of Main Street and Wilson Avenue.
  • A traffic signal on Roosevelt Road east of Finley road will be added to manage traffic for the new Mariano’s store. The Finley Road and Roosevelt Road intersection will also be improved concurrently.

This construction is part of the Village’s Capital Improvement Plan and the goals of the Village’s Public Works Department and Public Works and Environmental Concerns Committee.
