The Village of Lombard is pleased to announce this year’s top winning photographs of the 2016 Lilac Time Photo Contest, in which residents and guests were invited to submit photos that best represented Lombard during Lilac Time.
• First Place – “Looking Back” Lindsey Rivers• Second Place – “Fountain Blooms” by Kim Olson• Third Place – “Girl in Lilacia Park” by Danielle Mezzano
All three of the top-placing photos will be displayed at Village Hall. The winners will also receive Yorktown Shopping Center gift cards, valued at $100, $50 and $25, respectively. Laura Overlin, Brigitte Bauer and Ismeta Juarez received honorable mention.
“I would like to thank everyone who submitted photos to this year’s photo contest. We received many more photos than we did last year and the competition was fierce,” said Assistant Village Manager Nicole Aranas. “While all of the submitted photos were beautiful, the winning photos were chosen because they contained iconic imagery that focused specifically on Lombard during Lilac Time.” The composition, lighting, shape, value, color, and texture were also considered.
All photos received during the contest are available for viewing on the Village of Lombard’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/villageoflombard in an album labeled “Lilac Time Photo Contest 2016.” The album does not include photos that were submitted in hard copy. Photos were voted on by a combination of Village Staff and Lombard residents.
The contest, which was open from April 30 - May 15, allowed anyone to submit photos taken in Lombard via email, #VOLLilacTime with a reference to the contest, and digital copies at Village Hall. The contest was open to residents and non-residents of Lombard.
This is the second year of the annual contest, and the Village plans on hosting a similar contest annually. Anyone with questions regarding the contest can visit villageoflombard.org/photocontest for more information. Please contact the Village of Lombard’s Communications Coordinator Avis Meade at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
