The Village of Lombard’s Public Works Department recently launched a new series titled “Get to Know Your Snow Plow Driver”, in order to better connect with residents and to provide winter weather safety tips.
Lombard’s Public Works Department services 166 miles of roads, which is the same distance from Lombard to Madison, WI. Public Works is responsible for roads, trees, sewers and other utilities 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Lombard snow plow drivers can work up to 12 hour shifts at a time and are often called away from their families on nights, weekends, and Holidays, to help keep our streets safe.
“It’s important for our residents to know about what we do here at the Village, and about the efforts of the people doing it,” said Public Works Director Carl Goldsmith. “We want to give residents the opportunity to learn a little bit about our dedicated employees, in order to help people better understand that we’re here to help. Snow storms can be stressful and frustrating to residents, but our employees are working hard to make it easier and safer to use roads – no matter what time of year.”
The series features photos and facts about the Village’s snow plow drivers, as well as the routes of which they are responsible. From favorite sports teams and family members, to the thing they love most about their jobs and their top safety tips, www.villageoflombard.org/myplowdriver gives residents an opportunity to get to know the people behind the wheel of their Village’s snow plows.
