The Village of Lombard will be holding its annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at the Sunken Garden at Lombard Common Park, located near Grace and Maple Streets.
Reverend Steve Wagner from Trinity Lutheran Church will open the ceremony with an invocation and Lombard Village President Keith Giagnorio will welcome attendees. Lombard resident and World War II Veteran Arthur Hrabec will be the keynote speaker. Students from Glenbard East High School will be participating in the musical portion of the ceremony, performing the “The Star Spangled Banner” and “God Bless America”. Participating students include singers Haley Mott and Morgan Mott, and trumpet players Dominic Coveny and Charles Grunert.
In an effort to remember the outstanding courage and commitment to freedom made by our veterans, Giagnorio invites all residents, especially local scout troops and families, to attend the event to pay tribute to those who have given and continue to give so much for our freedoms. Residents interested in sitting during the short ceremony are invited to bring lawn chairs. For residents who are unable to attend the ceremony, Giagnorio encourages them to honor veterans on Veterans Day at 11 a.m., by taking a moment to remember their service and sacrifice in a special way at that time.
The event is organized by Lilac VFW Post 5815 and the Village of Lombard. For more, contact Communications Coordinator Avis Meade at (630)620-5718 or visit the Village’s website at villageoflombard.org/veterans.
