he Lombard Fire Department is hosting an Open House during National Fire Prevention Week. The event is themed “Hear the Beep Where You Sleep”, and will focus on the importance of having smoke alarms in every bedroom.
Visit from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at Fire Station 1, 50 E. St. Charles Rd. The Open House is an educational event that will focus on how to properly test a smoke detector, create an escape plan for your family, and how to get out and stay out in case of a fire. Event attendees will also get a closer look at Fire and EMS vehicles and apparatus inside of the Fire Station. Residents are invited to wear their previously purchased pink shirts in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month for a group photo at 7 p.m.
The event is hosted by the Lombard Fire Department in partnership with ComEd, DuPage Public Safety Communications (DUCOMM), DuPage County Office of Emergency Management, Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Illinois Fire Safety, Lombard Historical Society, Lombard Police Department, New York Life and many others.
