The Village of Lombard has been notified that all work on the Metra Underpass Project (with the exception of punch list items) will be completed by John Burns by Saturday, August 1 at 7:00 a.m.
At this time, Parkside between Park and Main will be restored to 2 way traffic. On Monday afternoon, McGuire Drive between Main St. and Elizabeth St. will be reopened to traffic. One way traffic on Park Ave. between St. Charles and McGuire Drive will remain in effect as the Village implements a traffic study to determine whether or not to keep one way traffic permanent, or to reinstate two way traffic standard to the street prior to construction. This study will be conducted over the next month.
Union Pacific Railroad personnel will continue to reconstruct the west platform. This work will continue through September 1st. Upon completion of the platform work new guard rails and hand rails matching the newly installed rails will be installed along the west end of the platform. As of August 15th all handicapped stalls will be full accessibility all parking stalls will be back in operation.
A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place after all work is complete including the west platform rehabilitation project being conducted by Union Pacific. The Village of Lombard thanks residents, commuters and Downtown businesses for their continued patience throughout the duration of this major project.
