Solicitors must apply for and be approved for a permit to solicit in Lombard. Solicitors must also adhere to a set of guidelines. Violators should be reported to the Lombard Police Department.
The Village of Lombard's highest priority is resident safety. If you feel unsafe due to solicitor engagement, or witness a suspicious solicitor behavior including trespassing in a backyard, please call 911 to report the situation.

Per Village Code, solicitors must adhere to the following restrictions:- Solicitors must cease solicitation upon owner or occupant request- Solicitors must obey posted solicitor regulation signs that are a minimum of 3x4 inches in size with letters 3/8 inch in height, and are posted on or near the main entrance to the premises or on or near the main door including: - "No Solicitors or Peddlers"- "Only Solicitors or Peddlers Registered in Lombard Invited" - "Charitable Organization Solicitors Only"- "Not For Profit Organization Solicitors Only"("No Solicitor" signs area available for purchase at Village Hall for $0.50.) - Solicitors must display their permit/license conspicuously on the outer garment of a licensed/registered peddler or solicitor at all times when the person engaged in soliciting or peddling in the Village of Lombard.- Solicitors must not misrepresent themselves or their company and must be up front about their purpose of obtaining orders for or to make sales or goods or services. - Solicitors must not misrepresent the right of the buyer to rescind or cancel a sale under the provisions of applicable law.- Solicitors must not cheat, deceive, or fraudulently misrepresent, whether through himself or through an employee, while acting as a peddler or solicitor in the village, or to barter, sell or peddle any goods, merchandise or wares other than those specified in his or her application for a license.- Solicitors must not interfere with vehicular, bicycle, or pedestrian traffic on any public right-of-way, or display any goods, merchandise or wares on any village property or right-of-way, or within 100 feet of the intersection of any public right-of-way or driveway.- Solicitors are only allowed to ring bells, knock or engage with occupants of residencies for purpose of solicitation between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.
