June 15 Rain Storm Update

Overnight on June 15, 2015, the Village of Lombard recorded a total rainfall of 3.43”. All Village pumps and sewers operated to capacity throughout the storm.

Water levels and pumping status have been continually monitored through the Village’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system. As of the morning hours on June 16, water levels continue to drop slowly. The East Branch of the DuPage River remains high and has slowed drainage from several flooded areas in Lombard including Phillips Court, Glenview, Eugenia, and Grove/Elizabeth.

Lombard employees worked throughout the night, responding to calls forwarded by the Police Department. Street, underground utilities, forestry and pumping employees worked to maintain pump operations, remove a fallen tree from the road, and barricade flooded roads to help maintain the safety of Village residents. During the overnight hours that this storm had its largest impact on the Village of Lombard, resources were stretched thin. Vigilant communication and cooperation between the Police Department, Village Hall and Public Works employees helped to resolve issues during this extreme weather event. Team work from citizens, residents and community members was reported around Lombard, and the Village extends a sincere gratitude to those who helped to clear debris from storm drains and assisted their fellow Lombardians throughout this storm situation.

The Village continues to follow up with storm clean up and will keep continue to monitor pumps to ensure maximum drainage. Please call Public Works to report storm damage at (630) 620-5740.
