The Village of Lombard, in partnership with Alta Planning + Design and Active Transportation Alliance, has kicked off its first Village-Wide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan.
This forward-thinking initiative will create a framework for a safe and accessible network of streets that will help connect cyclists and pedestrians to destinations while meeting the needs of all ages and abilities.
Public input is important to the plan’s success. Please visit the plan’s interactive online map and online survey, accessible here: Online Map and an Online Survey. These tools will gather residents’ opinions on barriers to bicycling and walking. They will identify key destinations that people want to reach on bicycle or foot. To learn more, visit the plan’s table at Cruise Nights or attend a public open house:• Cruise Night - Saturday, June 13• Cruise Night - Saturday, June 20• Public Open House - Wednesday, July 1, 7:00-9:00 pm (stop by at any time)
The plan will culminate with a bike tour in late September to showcase proposed recommendations. Please continue to check the Village's Biking in Lombard webpage and the Village's Facebook page for more information.
The Village-Wide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan serves as an update to Lombard’s 2008 Lilac Bikeway Plan and will be its first pedestrian plan. The plan will identify locations for bicycle facilities, such as bike lanes, and policies and programs that will facilitate increased biking and walking trips throughout the Village. The plan will give the Village an advantage when applying for state and federal transportation grants. It will continue the Village’s hard work in maintaining a community that is a great place to live, work, and be active.
